Imelda Canales and Joel Flores plan to get married Aug. 20 in Gilroy.

Imelda Canales, of Gilroy, is engaged to marry Joel Flores, of Newark.
Imelda is the daughter of Maria and Vicente Canales. She is a 2001 graduate of Gilroy High School and has an associate's degree in liberal studies. She works in retail management.
Joel is the son of Pablo and Luisa Flores and works in roofing.
The couple plan an Aug. 20 wedding in Gilroy with a reception in Redwood City. Father Francisco from St. Mary's Church perform the ceremony and a small reception will be held with family and friends.

Jennifer Maria Alves
Jennifer Maria Alves made the president's list for the fall semester at Gavilan College, Gilroy. To be placed on the president's honor roll, a student must earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average in at least 15 units in single semester.
Jennifer is the daughter of Maria Alves of Gilroy and has been accepted to UC Davis for the 2008 fall semester. She plans to major in English.
