    Jayson Anthony Contreras was born Sept. 1, 2008 at Saint Louise Hospital to DeVonna Marie Chapa and Felix Anthony Contreras of Gilroy. He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces.



    Deliah Emeline Alhadi

    Deliah Emeline Alhadi was born Sept. 26, 2008 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Lisa Martinez and Hassan Alhadi of Hollister. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

    Joel Blayney

    Army Pvt. Joel A. Blayney has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

    During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

    He is the son of Jessica Lozano of Phoenix, Ariz., and brother of Richard Blayney of Hollister. He is a 2008 graduate of Job Corps-John Muir High School.



    Camille Schwartz

    Mount Madonna School is pleased to announce that senior Camille Schwartz has been named a commended student in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. Earning this distinction signifies that a student scored in the top 3 percent nationwide of the more than 1.5 million students who took the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    Schwartz, a resident of Morgan Hill, started attending MMS as a fouth grade student and is one of about 34,000 high school seniors across the country commended for their exceptional academic promise. She has a great desire to travel, learn many languages and serve humanity through environmental work and/or foreign service.



    Linda Seals

    Linda Seals of Morgan Hill has entered seven head of Corriedale in the open sheep breed division of the 35th annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE). The NAILE is recognized as the world's largest purebred livestock show with more than 22,000 entries and nearly $700,000 in prizes and awards. Scheduled for Nov. 8-21, the event takes place at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.
