Five candidates running so far in 3 open council districts
Aug 8, 2008
 By Kollin Kosmicki

HOLLISTER

One November council race so far has three candidates officially running, while the other two have one each, City Clerk Geri Johnson said today.

The filing deadline for District 4 is 5 p.m. today. Mayor Doug Emerson was the only candidate running as of 3:30 p.m. The deadline for the other two districts was extended five days to Wednesday because the incumbents from those two areas aren't running for reelection.

In District 1, Planning Commissioner Ray Friend was the only candidate running so far to succeed Councilman Brad Pike, who isn't seeking a second term.

In District 5, three candidates are vying to succeed Councilwoman Monica Johnson, who also declined to run for a second term. Those candidates are David Huboi, a planning commissioner and local architect; Roy Iler, a sheriff's office lieutenant; and Victor Gomez, the franchise owner of the local Papa Murphy's store.
