HOLLISTER

The episode of Discovery Channel's hit show "Dirty Jobs" that features Hollister's own Green Tripe pet food producers aired for the first time Oct. 28, but locals have plenty of additional chances to see the show featuring the local factory producing raw products out of such parts as cow tracheas, heads and stomachs.

"We were so happy at how it came out," said Mary Voss, who owns Green Tripe with her husband Peter. "We are getting phone calls from everywhere and lots more customers as a result."

Voss recollected the filming and said Mike Rowe, the charismatic host of "Dirty Jobs," was "just great."

"He was witty and funny and he didn't mind talking with everyone," said Voss, adding that she told Rowe she didn't think her establishment was gross enough for the show, but that he assured her: "No you are way up there on the dirty jobs scale."

Receptionist Libby Leone remembers the smell that day, which was worse than usual due to doors and windows needing to remain closed for lighting and sound reasons.

"We were melting, and it was around 105 degrees. And the warmer it gets, the smellier it gets."

Leone also confirmed they've received a lot of new business since the episode's airing.

"A lot of people are interested in the dog treats," said Leone, explaining that the treats are made of a raw cow hoof stuffed with tripe.

The episode will air beyond the dates listed above. To access a complete listing, go to http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/dirtyjobs/.
