Police blotter: Man takes police on car chase to Morgan Hill

Burglary, Tres Pinos Road

Just after 5 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a burglary on the 500 block of Tres Pinos Road. The business owner and reporting party walked into his store and discovered one of the windows was smashed and a few bottles of liquor were taken. Police have no suspect leads.



Burglary, McCray Street

Police reported a vehicle break in that took place sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of McCray Street. In the morning, the reporting party discovered that his back window was smashed and items were taken from his car. The items include tools and unidentified personal items. Police have no suspects and nobody witnessed the crime.



Burglary, College Street

At 4:30 a.m. Thursday police reported to the 100 block of College Street after a homeowner discovered that someone broke into her home while she was sleeping. When she woke up, her credit cards and prescription drugs were gone. Police have no suspect leads.



Petty theft, San Juan Drive

Around 9 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1800 block of San Juan Drive after someone wandered into Quick Stop and took an 18-pack of beer. The store clerk tried to stop the man, who is described as a medium-built bald Hispanic male, but the suspect took off running. The suspect fled toward the Mission Oak Trailer Park. Police are looking through surveillance footage trying to identify the suspect.



Obstruction, San Benito Street

Just after 10:55 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 400 block of San Benito Street to stop a disturbance outside The Vault. A group of people started yelling at the club's security guards, after the guards kicked them out of the building. When police arrived, two juveniles tried to fight the security guards. Officers held the two suspects back before using pepper spray to stop their attacks. Afterward officers went inside and arrested a 26-year-old man who refused to leave after being asked by the club's owners.ent was wanted for a previous felony allegation.



Battery, Memorial Drive

Around 8:50 p.m. Saturday, police reported a battery after a Babe Ruth baseball game when a woman spat on the game's umpire at Memorial Park. After the game, the Madera woman, who disagreed with an unknown call made by the umpire during the game, went up to him and spat on him. The woman was a mother of one of the kids on the Madera team. The police are pursuing charges against the woman.



Evading police, Hillcrest Drive

Just before 3 a.m. as an officer was making a routine traffic stop he watched a dark Sport Utility Vehicle run a stop sign at speeds of 50 mph through Hollister city limits. The officer started following the suspect and tried to pull him over multiple times but the suspect never stopped for any stop signs or traffic signals. During the chase the suspect called 911 and said he wouldn't pull over for police. After driving around the city, the San Benito County Sheriff's Office joined the chase as the suspect started heading toward Gilroy on Highway 25. Going more than 80 mph the suspect got onto Highway 101 before the California Highway Patrol took over the chase. The CHP eventually pulled the suspect over in Morgan Hill after he took the Tennant Avenue exit. The 30-year-old Hollister resident, who was on active parole, was arrested for possession of a methamphetamine pipe.
