Playing their third game in four days, the Gavilan men's soccer team couldn't keep pace with a visiting College of Marin last Friday, falling 2-1.
Former Gilroy High player Jairo Rodriguez scored the lone goal for the Rams, which fall to 3-2 on the year. The goal was assisted by Juan Negrete on a great cross, said coach Albert Marques.
"I could see that we were a little sloppy and that the concentration level wasn't there," Marques said of the pregame warm-ups. "The third game of the week, just a little too much."
Gavilan trailed 1-0 at halftime.
Trailing 2-1 late, the Rams added a forward to the front line to punch in the tying goal, and although they did hit the cross bar at one point, the Rams couldn't connect on the equalizer.
Gavilan will play at Mission College Tuesday in Santa Clara at 4 p.m.
